Offering an alternative within today’s art market, the Galleria is exhibiting the works of modernists of the early 20th century as well as the paintings and sculptures of influential contemporary artists. Among these is a suite of original hand-colored etchings by Salvador Dali.
The Galleria’s most recent exhibition embraces the work of the Rome-born artist Giancarlo Impiglia (1940-present), who has departed from his former style with a series of new canvases that comment on the horrors of war. In addition, the gallery recently acquired a collection of assemblages from Impiglia’s early career.
The gallery is furthermore proud to introduce to the American public for the first time the work of Emiliano Tolve (Italian, 1940-present), a powerful exponent of post-war abstract painting.
Beyond these names, the Galleria’s collection includes the works of Karel Appel (Dutch, 1921-2006), the Abstract Expressionist and founder of the Cobra avant-garde movement, Miles Davis (American, 1926-1991), the eclectic musician/painter, Francisco Zuniga (Mexican, 1912-1998), the sculptor and painter of the Mexican political modern style, Charles Laborde (French, 1886-1941) who studied at the Academie Julian and at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Albert Mentzel Flocon (French, 1909-1994) who studied at the Bauhaus with the Modernist Oscar Shlemmer and whose works are part of the MoMA, Jean Emile Laboureur (French, 1877-1943) another student of the Academie Julian and founder of Les Peintres-Graveurs Indépendants and Camille Corot (French, 1796-1875) whose landscape paintings inspired Cezanne and other Post-Impressionists. |
